SWSD-SAD and Cyclothemia . What does it all mean>>>

SWSD is a disorder that affects people who frequently rotate shifts or work at night .About 20% of thhhe U.S workforce are involved in some type of shceduled work , on occasions shift work sleep disorder interferes with the bodies natural circadian cycle ; making it difficult to adjust to the different sleep and wake schedule (ANA,2013) . Among some of the consequences of shift work sleep disorder are increased automobile accidents , increased sick leave , and mood problems . On occasions it is also accompanied by SAD or what is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder, seasonal affective disorder is the result of a drop in the hormone melatonin secreted by the peneal gland ; the hormones function is to aid in the regulation of the circadian cycle, regulate the menstrual cycle , and aid in the support of the immune system. Levels of melatonin drop when it is day light and increase in the dark, it is also responsible for the body s ability to wake up after it has been asleep.(umm.edu,2014). These two disorders when in combination become hazardous to the health of the sufferer and to the environment , not just because of the risk to health and to the risk of error production during work , but because when undetected may result in cyclothemia or second stage depression which usually occur es during winter months and or holiday seasons such as Christmas season, in addition the three disorders in combination also cause the sufferer to over eat as well. The disorder usually begins during the fall
